Circle Medical is a vibrant clinic located in Calgary’s rapidly expanding Southeast quadrant. Located close to the new South Health Campus, it serves many young families in the surrounding neighbourhoods and beyond
Built in 2007, this modern facility’s “circle” theme is based on a holistic approach to Family Medicine. Circle Medical treats not only the person as a whole, but also the family and community
The name is also a reference to the circle of life, as it offers full service care, from low risk obstetrics, breastfeeding medicine and pediatric care all the way to adult and geriatric medicine
The clinic also provides a number of procedures, including IUD insertions, endometrial and skin biopsies, joint injections/aspirations, vasectomies and circumcisions.
Clinic Policies
Circle Medical strives to provide not only excellent quality care, but also a wonderful experience at our clinic. We hope to see patients in a timely manner and to keep our waiting room times down to a minimum. To help us facilitate this, we have instituted a number of policies:
- The first visit at our clinic will be a “Meet the Doctor Visit”, where information is exchanged about the patient’s needs and expectations and the doctor’s knowledge, skills, and scope of practice. If these factors are deemed to be mutually acceptable, the patient will then be taken on as a patient of the clinic. The doctor reserves the right to decline acceptance of a patient. No health issues will be dealt with on the first visit.
- Walk-in patients will not be seen, as it is unfair to patients with scheduled appointments. However, every effort will be made to schedule patients on the same day they call if they are experiencing an urgent health matter (e.g. pregnancy complications, sick children, acute infections, etc.)
- Patients are requested to come to their appointment on time. Due to the disruption to the clinic’s schedule, patients arriving more than 20 minutes late will be asked to reschedule. We appreciate a phone call if you know that you are running late.
- To thouroughly assess concerns and to better accomodate scheduling, we request that patients focus on only one health concern per visit. If you feel you may require extra time for a complicated issue or counselling, please inform the staff at the time of booking so they can allot an appropriate amount of time.
- Prescriptions will not be filled over the telephone. Patients need to come in for a proper assessment of their health status prior to renewal of medications.
- Patients are encouraged to routinely book follow-up appointments after any tests have been ordered. This not only ensures that results are indeed received by our office, but also allows us time to educate about the significance of test results and answer your questions.
We know that you also want a Family Doctor who comes to work happy and refreshed, and who will practice medicine for many years to come! To ensure this, we need to value our time and services and maintain a proper balance between work and our personal time. For this reason, we have developed the following policies:
- Obstetrical patients will be seen by the doctor-on-call when they are in the hospital, and this may be different from the doctor they have been seeing in clinic. Each of the doctors at Circle Medical take turns working on-call at the hospital along with doctors from other clinics. There are both male and female physicians in this call group.
- Your doctor might not be available in the office every day. If an urgent situation arises where you need to be seen and your usual physician is not in the office, we will attempt to fit you in with one of his or her colleagues working that day.
- Patients will be charged for missed appointments or cancellation of appointments with less than 24 hours notice.
- Fees will be charged for uninsured services such as sick notes, forms, third party medicals, etc. A list of uninsured services and costs can be found on the patient services link.
- Fees might be charged for reissuing of lab requisitions, if lost by patient.
- No advice will be given out over the telephone and doctors will not return phone calls.
- Test results will not be given out over the telephone.
- Rude behaviour or verbal abuse toward the doctors or staff will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate termination of care.
